What Is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic care is a natural approach to healing the body that goes back centuries. It involves spinal manipulation, also called a spinal adjustment. Dr. Rob sees many patients who come into the office in pain and walk out with a new perspective on preventative health and hope for long-term relief. Adjusting the spine can prevent many health conditions and improve existing ailments. Back pain, neck pain, migraines, sleeplessness and many other health issues are often caused by subluxations, which are slight misalignments of the spine. This can cause acute or chronic pain, but the body can heal over time with the right care.

Phase One: Relief Care

Patients who come in pain can often identify the cause of the pain, such as an accident, recent injury, chronic illness or a health condition. Dr. Rob immediately starts phase one of care, which is Relief Care. The goal is to relieve the stress on the body that is causing the pain and it often requires coming in for adjustments daily or a few times per week for a specific period of time.

Phase Two: Corrective Care

Once the immediate pain has been controlled and symptoms relieved, Dr. Rob will move to phase two of care, which is Corrective Care. Pain is often caused by a deeper issue and finding the source is key to preventing the condition from recurring at a heightened level. You will see Dr. Rob less often and he may also give you exercises and stretches to help accelerate the healing process.

Phase Three: Wellness Care

Phase three, called Wellness Care, is the final phase of care and where Dr. Rob anticipates seeing most of patients. This care level means that your body is fully healed, but you will need adjustments in order to keep your body functioning at the optimal condition. Similar to continuing an exercise program, your musculoskeletal system needs ongoing maintenance in order to ensure it remains strong and in alignment. Routine care will help you avoid aches and pains, while preventing serious issues down the road.

Chiropractic Care Is Unique to Each Person

Chiropractic care is different for every person because of different health issues, activity levels, lifestyles, occupations and hobbies that stress the body in varying ways. Some people are prone to migraines while others suffer from chronic back pain. Chiropractic care can help all long-term and short-term health conditions, including from pregnancy, fibromyalgia and conditions from overusing certain muscles. Dr. Rob will evaluate your overall health during your initial consultation and may also begin your first adjustment. He will use a variety of adjustments depending on where you are experiencing pain and will focus on specific areas causing pain. Come see Dr. Rob to start your journey to better health the natural and non-invasive way!
